NASA FL Officials and support staff are also requested to register online ASAP to confirm their participation.

HPDE Program updates:

*Continuing driver education in HPDE is the core of the NASA program, but so is making friends. You’ll become a part of the NASA FL family and get to know your fellow drivers at the “downloads” (debriefing) meetings held after your HPDE track sessions. Of equal importance, the NASA downloads serve as a teaching format for continual driver education under the leadership of HPDE Group Leaders. You’ll not only meet your peers, but you might learn a new driving trick or two at a NASA event! Don’t forget the NASA FL 5 PM “social” Saturday evening on Victory Lane, where it’s fun to get together with others over free cold beverages and snacks after the day is concluded. See you there!

*Instructor Candidate School (ICS) applicants will be taking part in the April 18-19 event at Homestead Miami Speedway in classroom training and on-track training drills. If you see a car with XXX on the side, this is one of the ICS “school participants”. Ten applicants have passed the preliminary ICS screening process and have been invited to take part in the upcoming ICS under the direction of School Director, Steve Rosenthal and assisted by ICS instructors James Dean, Bill Horton, Victor Leo and Luis Jimenez.

NASA FL RACER Updates:
*Attn: Aspiring racers!!

We are pleased to announce that NASA FL offers a new program to aid aspiring racers transition from HPDE into our regional Racing Program.. This is an individual driver evaluation program that will require a series of dedicated track days to complete, but those who are approved will meet the requirements to apply for their NASA FL Provisional Competition License. This program requires knowledge of basic driving fundamentals and is open to those who have been evaluated at the track and approved for HPDE 3 or higher. HPDE 3 level drivers should set their goals to being upgraded to HPDE 4 as the first step in this process. A minimum of 2 NASA FL track days in the “unrestricted passing” environment of HPDE 4 is necessary as a foundation before further evaluation. Additional instructor fee will apply to those who require or request individual coaching. As part of the final stages of the transition program participant must pass a written test on NASA racer rules. A dedicated race car with all NASA race car safety equipment as well as racer clothing and gear for the driver are required for graduation of this evaluation & transition program. This is a coordinated effort of the NASA FL HPDE School Director, Steve Rosenthal and NASA FL Race Director Larry Mahanor. We welcome interest from anyone ready to get started on this path toward racing with NASA FL. Please email nasafl@drivenasa.com with any questions.

*NASA FL racer Jonathan Eismann is already planning ahead to attend the NASA Championships this September 10-13. He is seeking 5 other S. FL racers to share costs of renting a Passport/Fedex transporter for the round trip to Utah (Miller Motorsports Park). Contact Jonathan Eismann for information & pricing.

*Contact NASA FL Race Director, Larry Mahanor with Race Division related questions.

Race car tech questions: NASA FL Chief of Race Tech, Chris Burson

NASA FL TT (Time Trial):
* TT is a realistic goal for those who like the idea of “timed events”, but don’t want to take that giant leap into full blown wheel to wheel NASA racing. A minimum of 2 full track days in HPDE 4 with NASA FL is required as part of the driver evaluation and approval process before starting Time Trial competition. Check out the NASA TT rules and get started in TT soon! NASA FL TT Director, Billy Stacey
